I walked out from work one day. Surrounding the parking lot, there were literally hundreds of black birds. The top of the roof, trees, flying... everywhere.

There were too many all around to take their picture, but I did take the picture of one tree.

I see that I'm not the only one thinking Hitchcock's Birds...

an interesting minimalistic shot that is brought down to b&w alone. it almost appears as if it is not a photograph at all.

I felt like I was in the Hitchcock movie, the way the birds had swarmed around the parking lot. The day had so little color in it, taking it to b&w was a small step.

the lack of shades of grey I meant - the high contrast was a great touch.

Timely image with Halloween a month away.

You know how to create an image that instantly evokes an emotional response.

Wow - fantastic shot, it has such impact. And it does remind me of the Hitchcock movie! Great contrast, too.

Well thank you. As always, I am complimented by someone I look up to. I desaturated the photo - it was a little tough to decide. The day was so grey that there was actually very little color in the picture at all. I wondered whether the small bit of color made it more interesting, but in the end I think the BW version conveyed the stark sense of the image better. And I actually didn't like this picture much at first, not sure why.
